Before you use the Biofire for first time!
Your ImaginFires bioethanol fireplace is pretty much ready to go straight out of the box. However, there are some things to consider before you light it for the first time.
We suggest carrying out the following checks to make sure all is safe.
Check your bioethanol fuel box for remnants of packaging
Your bioethanol fireplace doesn’t need a flue or a chimney. It’s perfectly safe to burn bioethanol fuel in the home because it combusts cleanly — you’ll find none of the smoke, ash, or mess you might associate with a log burner or open fire. Bioethanol produces heat, light, a little water vapour, and a little carbon dioxide rather than smoke or soot.
However, we recommend that you make sure the steel fuel box is clear of packing remnants before you light it for the first time. There may be tiny pieces of paper or plastic in the burning aperture or stuck around the fuel box; these will create unwanted fumes.
So, we recommend wiping the external body of the fuel box with a water-moistened cloth and vacuuming the aperture with a nozzle before you first light your bioethanol fireplace.
Fill your bioethanol fuel box to the MAX position
One of the great things about bioethanol fuel is that there’s very little waste. Unlike a traditional wood burner, you can immediately snuff out the flames when you no longer wish to heat your room. Simply close the fuel box slider, and hey presto, the flame goes out. And any unburnt fuel will remain in your fuel box until your next burn (although it may evaporate eventually).
Normally, you can add a small amount of fuel if you wish to light the flame for a short duration. However, we recommend filling the fuel box entirely for your first burn — using less may prevent proper ignition, and your flame may go out.
Never fill bioethanol fuel above the MAX mark
Never overfill your bioethanol fuel box — it could be dangerous. You should never see liquid fuel inside the burning mesh after you’ve filled the box.
NEVER fill past the MAX mark, or you could risk a house fire.
Wipe your fuel box before lighting
We recommend using a funnel when filling your bioethanol fireplace with fuel. We supply specially designed no-spill spouts with our premium own-brand low-odour ImagiFuel — nonetheless, if you squeeze the bottle too hard, it can spill over the body of the fuel box.
ALWAYS ensure that you wipe all spillages — however small. Remember, safety must always come first — if you’ve accidentally spilt bioethanol inside or outside the fuel box, don’t light it until you’ve cleaned up.
You can clean up bioethanol fuel with a cloth — just soak it up, then rinse your cloth. And you’re ready for a lovely, cosy, eco-friendly indoor flame!
